Trafalgar OBITUARY. - The subject of this memorium, Miss Mary Jane Bowbeer, daughter of W. S. Bowbeer, Esq., was born in the Township of Trafalgar, in the County of Halton, February 26th, 1844. In early life Miss Bowbeer became deeply interested about divine things, and in 1857, at a camp-meeting held by the Wesleyan Methodists on the Oakville Circuit, she united with that body, of which she remained a faithful and devoted member for a number of years: she afterwards withdrew from that society and subsequently united with the Methodist New Connexion. Naturally retired and unassuring of an affectionate and gentle disposition, she was much beloved by all who knew her. Her disease, consumption of the bowels, commenced in the latter part of March last, and made such rapid progress that in a short time little hopes were entertained of her recovery; but hope succeeded fear, when for a short time she appeared to rally under the fearful shock. During her convalescence every means which medical skill and parental kindness could suggest were employed, and finally her father resolved to take her on a trip by water to the eastward. But it soon became evident, after her return, that the seeds or mortality were sown deeply in her vitals, as from that period her decline became very rapid. During her illness she was attended by the Rev'ds F. Haines, J. H. Fowlers, and myself. To each she gave the fullest testimony that the blood of Christ cleanseth from all sin, enabling her to be patient in affliction and joyful through hope she triumphed over the fear of death. On Saturday, the 26th August, we gathered round her bed for the last time, as it became evident that her race was nigh run, and the hour of her disolution was at hand. At fifteen minutes past three her spirit obeyed the voice of Him that calleth, and took its departure from this world of sickness and probation, to the bosom of her dear Saviour, whom she loved most and best. Her funeral took place on Monday, the 28th, and was attended by an unusually large concourse of friends and relatives, to the place of interment. After we had committed her body to the tomb, we repaired to the church, when the writer, in compliance, with her request, addressed the friends and relatives from Rev. 14 and 13, and we have reason to hope that that day's service will not soon be forgotten. May God be merciful to the bereaved, and unable them to triumph, so when all our warfare's past, and dying, find their latest far under their feet at last. Yours, &c., J. S. ORR, M. N. C. Minister.
