With roots dating back to 1955, Community Living North Halton (CLNH) is a registered nonprofit organi: zation that provides supports and services to more than 550 children and adults with special needs in Georgetown, Milton and Acton. Offering more than 15 programs not funded by the government, the organi- zation relies on community donations and support to serve families in need. Programs such as the Saturday Centres, Summer Camps and After School Respite are especially vital to families in North Halton. These programs provide opportunities for school aged children and youth, with developmental disabilities to develop skills, friend- ships and self awareness in a fun and safe setting. Many of these child and youth focused programs are at capacity and have significant waiting lists and with- out adequate funding, are at risk. Established in 2004, the organization focuses on children who require intensive nursing support on a daily basis for survival, with a healthcare team that includes registered nurses, registered practical nurses, personal support workersTand physician support. The need for the home's services has grown tremendously since it opened and continues to grow. Adult Learning Centre-Literacy North Haiton is a community-based, charitable organization which provides 'adults with local opportunities to improve essential skills for employment, further education, and increased independence. Funded in part by the provincial government as a Literacy and Basic Skills provider and by the United Way Halton and Hamilton, Literacy North Halton is also supported by local spon- sors, community partners, dedicated volunteer tutors and board members, and through generous dona- tions from individuals like you.
