Borrowing Books

The process of borrowing books from the library has remained relatively unchanged since the library opened. Members were given a library card that they would present to library staff when they wanted to borrow a book. Each book was marked as library property, and library staff kept track of the material being circulated.

Every book would have this bookplate affixed inside the front cover to indicate that it was a library book. The bookplate outlines the loan period and fines, and there is a blank space at the bottom for the book's call number.
